Step-by-step guides that never leak customer data.

Pexli records your workflow and turns it into a how-to guide, a bug report or an automated test. Names, emails and card numbers are blurred or swapped for realistic sample data on your device, before anything is saved.

The problem: every screenshot in a guide, ticket or training deck is a chance to leak a real customer's details. Most tools leave blurring to you, or keep automatic detection for their most expensive plan.

Sensitivity scale

Pick how careful to be. Pexli does the rest.

Each level hides everything in the levels below it. Admins can lock a minimum level for the whole workspace.

High

Secrets and payment data

Card numbers, bank details, government IDs, API keys and passwords. Detected with deterministic rules, not guesswork, so nothing slips through on a bad day.

Medium

Contact details

Phone numbers, street addresses, dates of birth and account numbers, the details that identify a person outside your app.

Low

Everything personal

Names, emails, avatars and free-text notes. Ideal for public docs, sales demos and training material.

Blur it, or replace it with sample data

Blurred screenshots look redacted. Pexli can instead swap real values for realistic sample data in the page itself, matched to the original font and layout, so your guides look clean and finished.

The same fake person stays consistent across every step, so step 7 still shows "Jane Doe" if step 2 did.

  • Redaction happens on your device, before upload
  • Originals are never sent to Pexli's servers
  • A review screen before every share
  • Workspace minimum level set by admins
  • Scrubbed console and network logs for bug reports

One recording, three outputs

Docs for Ops. Bug reports and tests for Engineering.

Recording is the expensive part. Pexli turns the same capture into whatever your team needs next.

How-to guide

Screenshots, highlighted clicks and AI-written step text. Export to PDF, HTML, Markdown or Word, or share a link with your branding.

Bug report

Steps to reproduce, console errors, failed network calls, browser and viewport, sent to Jira, Linear or GitHub Issues in one click.

Automated test

Export the flow as a Playwright or Cypress test, plus a test case document with preconditions, steps and expected results.

How it works

Record, redact, share.

  1. Record. Click record in the browser extension and do the task once. Every click and keystroke becomes a step.
  2. Redact. Pexli finds personal data at the level you chose and blurs or replaces it before the screenshot is stored.
  3. Share. Edit, brand and publish as a guide, a ticket or a test. Push to your wiki or help centre.

FAQ

Questions

Does Pexli ever see the original screenshot?

No. Redaction runs inside the extension on your device. Only the redacted screenshot is uploaded when you choose to sync or share.

Is it really open source?

Yes. The capture extension is MIT licensed and you can use it locally without an account. The cloud workspace adds sync, sharing, branding and team features.

How does replace with sample data work?

Before the screenshot is taken, Pexli swaps sensitive values in the page for realistic fake ones of the same type and length, then restores the page. The fake identity stays consistent for the whole recording.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome and Edge at launch, with Firefox to follow. A desktop app for Windows and macOS is planned.

Where is my data stored?

On infrastructure in North America by default, with an EU-only option planned. Your AI features use our providers or your own key, and never receive unredacted screenshots.

When can I use it?

Beta teams start soon. Join the waitlist and we will email you when your invite is ready.
